Setting up buy-one-get-one and Nth-item deals
Create a promotion of the buy-N-get-N type: set how many to buy, how many to get, and the discount percent (100% = free). Scope it to specific products or a whole category — different products in the same category group together.
- The discounted unit is the cheapest one in the group, valued at its current effective price — if an earlier promotion already discounted it, the BOGO amount is based on the discounted price, not the list price.
- If you want the “3rd item free” badge to show the full list price, give this BOGO the smallest priority number so it calculates first. When a cart-wide discount runs first, the free item's displayed deduction is smaller than list price — a calculation-order property we've verified extensively, not a bug. Both orders land on nearly the same total; what changes is where the discount visibly sits.
Tip: put your headline offer first in priority so the receipt's discount breakdown matches your marketing message.
